The North Wales Police Department strives to protect and serve the community on a daily basis and especially in times of emergencies or situations requiring heightened health and welfare of the public’s safety. In an effort to keep the public and officers safe from any possible transfer of the COVID-19 Virus, the police department will begin to reduce the number of physical interactions between officers and the public in non-emergency situations. In no way will this reduce the police public safety and protection provided to the citizens of North Wales Borough and the people who work in and travel through the Borough.
The North Wales Police Department will be working diligently through the Covid-19 Virus mitigation guidelines as established by Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf and the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety. We will continue to respond to all emergency calls for service and provide a high level of police response and professionalism. Officers responding to private residences and businesses for a non-emergency call for service may request the caller to meet them at the entrance or outside to reduce the possibility for any cross-contamination of the COVID-19 Virus. In some non-emergency situations, you may receive a return phone call from a police officer who will take the report over the phone to reduce the possibility of any COVID-19 Virus cross-contamination between the police and people contacting the police department for non-emergency police services.
The North Wales Police Department will continue to monitor the COVID-19 Virus and make all appropriate procedural changes needed to protect the citizens in which we serve on a daily basis. It is my hope that the partnership between the police and community can help us get through these situations and help us grow as a community and Borough.
