Snow Emergency Declaration for North Wales Borough
March 4 – March 5, 2015
Effective 11 p.m. Wednesday, March 4 through 7 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2015, a ‘Snow Emergency’ is declared for North Wales Borough, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
Parking restrictions will be strictly enforced on the posted Snow Emergency Routes of Main and Walnut Streets and cars will be towed.
NOTE: The riding of bicycles is banned within the Borough during this snow emergency. This will protect both bicyclists and drivers.
A major winter storm is expected to begin late Wednesday evening and continue until late Thursday afternoon. Accumulation is expected to be 6 – 10 inches. All residents are urged to dress accordingly and limit their exposure to the elements. As with all snowstorms, extra care should be taken when shoveling.
Power Outages: I remind you that PECO has no way of knowing that your power is out. You must notify them and, if necessary, follow-up daily. Please remind children to stay away from down wires. Always assume that they are live.
Fire Hydrants: I ask residents to be sure that nearby fire hydrants are cleared of snow. Businesses and apartment building owners should remind those plowing parking lots to not bury fire hydrants. This is very important for the safety of everyone and is not the sole responsibility of Public Works, the Fire Department, or the Water Authority. We are in this together.
I strongly urge everyone to exercise caution when driving, until streets have been cleared.
In order to hasten the removal of the potentially large amount of snow, all residents and persons working or visiting in the Borough are very strongly requested to find off-street parking during this snow emergency if possible.
As always, I thank everyone for their cooperation during this emergency.
